SALSA BAR & GRILL AWARDED BEST RESTAURANT CATERER – AUSTRALIA

Salsa Bar & Grill, Port Douglas has brought the spotlight back to Tropical North Queensland as a dining and events mecca at the recent 2018 National Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence. The iconic Port Douglas restaurant has won the BEST RESTAURANT CATERER category in the country as well as being recognised as a finalist for Best Contemporary Restaurant.

National Winner Awards for Excellence 2018Owners and chefs Bill Conway and Rhys Bawden couldn’t be prouder of their team. “We cater for over 50 weddings and events throughout the year, ensuring that our guests receive the best possible experience and amazing food & service, each and every time”, says Mr Bawden. “It’s our staff that go the extra length to ensure guests leave Salsa and Port Douglas with the very best impression”.
“There are some amazing operators around the country as well as our region, to have taken out the top prize against such strong competition is humbling”, says Mr Conway. “The calibre of finalists is a testament to the quality of the restaurant industry in Australia”.

More than 480 members, cafes and catering businesses gathered to celebrate the achievements of their peers who were judged over 44 categories, with the winners announced at the Awards for Excellence ceremony held at the Luna Park.

The Awards for Excellence is a nationally recognised, independently judged awards program that celebrates exceptional service and culinary talent across the state. The Awards for Excellence is the only program in Australia where the judging criteria is determined by consumers who rank what is important to them in the dining experience.

The Awards are judged by an independent team of trained judges who anonymously visit the venues to determine the restaurant/café winners. The scores are based on the entire dining experience from food to the customer service experienced when the judges anonymously dine.

R&CA CEO Juliana Payne says, Salsa Bar & Grill should be proud of their achievements. Running a hospitality business isn’t easy – there’s a lot of blood, sweat and tears that goes into to making it work. But when you get the right mix of staff, produce and service, the results can be extraordinary.”

Tourism Port Douglas Daintree, Executive Officer, Ms Tara Bennett applauds Salsa’s hard work and recognition for the region. “National recognition for one of Port Douglas’s best known dining establishments is an impressive achievement not just for Salsa but for the destination. This recognition helps to elevate the food scene message in our destination messaging and boosts the profile of the region for both the FIT market as well as weddings, corporate groups and events”.
