Salsa Bar & Grill wins Best Restaurant Caterer

The folks down at Salsa Bar & Grill were all smiles this week with the news that they have won Best Restaurant Caterer in Australia at the Savour Australia Restaurant Caterers Award in Melbourne over the weekend.

After almost 20 years in the business and over 25 Queensland state awards, owner and founder of the iconic Port Douglas Restaurant Bill Conway was there to collect the prestigious award.

“Salsa Bar & Grill has won Best Restaurant and Best Wedding Caterer in Queensland for the last three years running. Now to be acknowledged as best in the country is outstanding”, he said. “To go up against other highly rated restaurants across the country and win is purely recognition of the hard work and high levels of service the Salsa team put in day in and day out. I can’t thank them enough”, said Mr Conway.

The Savour Australia Restaurant & Caterer’s Awards are an authoritative guide to Australia’s best restaurants and caterers.

With 1500 entrants and more the 500 highly trained judges, the awards are a national benchmark.

For a restaurant or caterer to qualify for the national awards, they must first win their state category.

Tropical North Queensland was highlighted on a national scale this year with three restaurants from three prominent areas taking out a prestigious prize. Bayleaf in Cairns won Best Specialty Restaurant; Jam Corner in Townsville won Best Breakfast and of course Salsa Bar & Grill won Best Restaurant Caterer.

The award for Best Restaurant Caterer focuses on a catering service within a venue at the highest standard. Judges look at the layout of the restaurant, the lighting, table settings, the presentation and consistency of the food served, and the style and professionalism of the staff.
